Meet the Doula

Hi I'm Nicole—the doula behind Mana in Bloom.

I believe every person deserves to feel respected, heard, and supported as they prepare for birth. My role is not to tell you what your birth should look like. It is to offer calm, evidence-informed guidance; practical comfort support; and a steady presence as you make the choices that feel right for you and your family.

As a birth justice doula, HypnoBirthing® childbirth educator, and public-health professional, I bring both professional knowledge and deep respect for the lived experiences, cultures, and circumstances each family brings to this journey.

Birth justice means recognizing that safe, respectful, and supported care should not depend on someone's race, income, language, immigration status, family structure, or the kind of birth they choose.

I support you in asking questions, understanding your options, and communicating your preferences — not in making decisions for you.

The Meaning Behind Mana in Bloom

Mana in Bloom was born from the meeting of two meaningful ideas: the comfort of sisterhood and the power that already lives within you.

In my Dominican heritage mana is an affectionate shortening of hermana, meaning “sister.” It carries the feeling of a trusted person by your side: someone who listens without judgment, shares wisdom, offers encouragement, and stays present when you need support most. That sense of sisterly connection shapes the way I approach doula work. I am here to walk alongside you with compassion, steady guidance, and respect for your voice throughout pregnancy, birth, and the transition into parenthood.

The name also honors the word mana, which holds deep cultural and spiritual significance across many Pacific Islander traditions, including Māori, Polynesian, and Melanesian communities often associated with a spiritual life force, energy, or power that exists within.

Together, these meanings reflect the heart of Mana in Bloom: supportive connection and the belief that your power already lives within you. You don't need anyone to grant you authority over your birth. You deserve information, compassionate support, and space to make informed choices, and move through birth in a way that feels aligned with your values.

Mana in Bloom is here to nurture that confidence and support you as your own strength blooms.
